Robert (Papa) Alvarado, 71, of Worcester passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.
Bob (Papa) was a kind man that lived for his family. Bob was born and raised in the Bronx, NY, the son of the late Roberto Alvarado and Enfida Torres of Puerto Rico. He was loved by many, and his presence and smile will be forever missed.
Bob started working for the City of Worcester School Department in 1970 until he retired in 2013. Bob was a diehard Yankee fan and New York Jets fan. He was known to wear his Yankee uniform whenever they won a championship. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, never missing a family function. He loved the ocean, traveling, going for coffee with his friends and gardening. During his spare time, he volunteered at the food pantry at St. Peter church. lived for his family and cherished every moment that he had with them.
He enjoyed going for walks with his grandson, Michael, and for ice-cream with his grandson, Jimmy.
Bob is survived by his children, Rose Germain of Worcester, Cindy Little of Leicester, Anita Alvarado of Oxford, Carol Alvarado of Worcester and Katie Mustakangas of Webster; two sisters, Betty Perez, wife of Chino, of Orlando, Florida and Norma Martinez, wife of Andrew, of Barcelota, Puerto Rico; 12 grandchildren, Michael, Johnny, Jessika, Kayla, Natalie, Elisha, Rylie, James, Julius, Bianca, Robert, Jr. and Syncere; 8 great grandchildren, Gianna, Michael, Arianna, Cameron, Amiah, Norah, Angelina and Noah; also the mothers of his children, his ex-wife, Margaret Alvarado of Worcester, and Carla Mustakangas of Worcester. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Robert Mustakangas.
His family would like to thank Paul Johnson, Roman Gonzales and Rainell Young for the friendship that they had for over 40 years.
Family and friends will celebrate Bob’s life with visiting hours on Thursday, August 4th from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Friday, August 5th at St. Peter’s Church, 929 Main St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park.
