Robert J. Durant, 89, died Friday, October 29, 2021 at Saint Vincent Hospital.
He was born in Worcester, son of Felix Durant and Evelyn A. (Gauthier) Jette Durant and graduated from Commerce High School. Bob proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He worked in the maintenance department at the Greendale YMCA for 20 years before retirement. Prior to that Bob worked for various companies and was a driver for the Jewish Shuttle service for six years.
Bob struggled with depression for many years but he didn't let that prevent him from doing the things he loved; such as reading, dancing and drawing. Bob had a beautiful voice and his passion was singing opera music, a hobby which he became quite accomplished. Bob was wonderful man who was known for his sincerity and compassion.
He is survived by his brother Paul Durant, with whom he lived all his life, several nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, and great-great nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Ernest Jette and a sister, Jeanne Piltzecker.
All are invited to gather at Holy Family Parish, 35 Hamilton Street at 10:30am on Thursday, November 4th for a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Bob's life. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory may be made to Holy Family Parish.
