WEST BOYLSTON-Robert A. Flink, 82, of West Boylston died May 16th peacefully at Knollwood Nursing Center surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Vernest F. (Crowley) Flink, his son, Robert A. Flink, Jr. and his wife, S. Jane Flink of Rutland; his daughter, Karen A. Winston of West Boylston; five grandchildren, Robert A. Flink, III, Allison J. Flink, Daniel Flink, Ashlee M. Winston and Audra B. Winston, nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Norman C. and Henry M. Flink predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester the son of Carl S. and Rudina E.M. (Hanson) Flink and was a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester where he played football and hockey before joining the service. He was a WWII Navy veteran stationed at Newport Naval Base in Rhode Island. Bob was a second generation employee of the former Norton Company where he retired after 35 years. He loved spending time with his family, home and enjoyed "putting around" the yard. He loved all sports especially the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots teams. Bob was a member of the Greendale Retired Men's Club and Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
The funeral will be Tuesday, May 20 from Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 W. Boylston St., with a Mass at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday, May 19 from 5 to 7 PM in the funeral home.
