Robert S. Kelley 71, of 64 Longmeadow Ave. died Sunday, May 9, at Saint Vincent Hospital.
His wife of 44 years, Madelyn G. (Langton) Kelley died in 1998. He leaves three sons, Lt. Col. James F. Kelley of Long Island, N.Y., Robert S. Kelley and Barry S. Kelley both of Holden; two daughters, Katherine Gingras of Charlton and Karen Petty of Worcester; two brothers, John P. Kelley of Cambridge and Stephen Kelley of Pinellas Park, FL; a sister, Susan M. Acker of Grafton; nine grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Michael Kelley, Richard Kelley, William Kelley and a sister, Mary DeMars, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester son of Michael and Mary (Bennett) Kelley and graduated from South High School.He was a Army Veteran of the Korea War.
Mr. Kelley was a Worcester Police Officer for 35 years, retiring several years ago.
He was a member of St. George's Church, the Knights of Columbus, Alhambra Council %2388, the Metropolitan Dinners Club and a member and past commander of the Main South American Legion Post %23341.
The Funeral will be held Wednesday, May 12, from FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 9 Hammond St., Worcester, with a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. George's Church, 38 Battle St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling Hours are Tuesday, May 11, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Park Spirit Committee of Worcester for the Joe Petty Playground, PO Box144, Worcester 01614.
