Robert D. Mayo Robert D. Mayo, lovingly known to many as “Uncle Bob” and to his grandchildren as “Papa,” passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on Saturday, September 5, 2026, with his loving wife of 54 years, Deborah J. Mayo (Weagle), by his side.
Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose family was at the center of his life. He is survived by his three children: Stephen Mayo and his wife, Ethel; Renee Bowlin and her husband, Robert; and Bobbie Guskey and her husband, Marc; as well as his eight grandchildren: Stephen, Johnathan, Alexander and his wife, Delaney, Joseph, Christian, Emily, Alison, and Ellora. Robert was predeceased by his mother, stepfather, and brother.
Robert will be cremated, and there will be no public viewing. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 49 Old Webster Road, Oxford, MA 01540. The service is open to family, friends, and all those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks those wishing to honor Robert’s memory to consider making a donation to the family’s Alzheimer’s Association fundraiser. Donations will help support the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and the families whose lives have been touched by it. Robert will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
