Robert E. McKenzie

May 15, 1934 — November 5, 2024

Robert E. McKenzie joined the angels on November 5th, 2024. He was loved and is mourned deeply by Joan McKenzie, his wife; his children Michael (Michelle C.) and Mindy, his grandchildren Madison (Sean), Macklin (Jac) and Michelle (Charlie) and his great granddaughter Freya. His infectious humor, generosity, affection and gentle nature will be missed by his loving family, friends and all that knew Bob, Dad and PaPa.

He was born during the heart of the depression, to Ed and Mrytle (Hedrick) McKenzie the youngest of a large family in Effingham, Illinois. After high school, he married his sweetheart, Joan and signed up for the Army. It was during their time at Ft. Devens that they became avid Celtics fans and continued to watch the games until today. Thanks to the G.I. bill and Joanie’s ability to truly stretch a dollar, Bob graduated with honors from the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana with a degree in Economics. He had a successful career in Medical Equipment sales for over 35 years in Columbus, Ohio, but that did not define his success. Bob was an active member in his church and practiced his faith throughout his life. He served in many capacities as an active member of the Westerville Christian Church and the Worthington Christian Village. Bob volunteered his time at “the Village,” until it was time to be a resident.

Bob is predeceased by his parents, sister, six brothers and his baby daughter, Melinda.

Bob and his family are grateful for the wonderful care provided by Worcester Homecare, the Nurses and aides at Shrewsbury Crossing (Harbor) and Notre Dame Hospice. In lieu of flowers, Bob would want a donation to your favorite charity or the Worthington Christian Village (Benevolent Fund) 165 Highbluffs Blvd., Columbus, OH 43235.

Visitation will be held at Caswell Fay Callahan Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester, MA on Sunday, November 10th from 2-4 PM, a private graveside service in Windsor, IL on Saturday, November 16th and a celebration of Life at the Worthington Christian Village at a later date.
