Robert A. Stockhaus

WORCESTER-Robert A. Stockhaus, 94, formerly of Ekman St. passed away Monday, Sept. 3.

His wife of 72 years, Mildred M. (Hagberg) Stockhaus passed away in August. He leaves two sons, Robert A. Stockhaus, Jr. and his wife Janet of Sturbridge and Richard K. Stockhaus and his wife Hope of Millbury; his daughter, Sonja M. Swedberg of Windsor, CT; eight grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A great grandchild, Jeremy Stockhaus, a son-in-law, C. Harold Swedberg, Jr., two brothers, Ralph L. and John A. Stockhaus and a sister, Thelma Gustafson predeceased him.

He was born in Worcester the son of Arthur and Hilma (Bergstrom) Stockhaus and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School. Bob was the former owner of Stockhaus Motors in Worcester and Marlboro, the oldest Pontiac Dealer in Worcester and later worked for Morgan Construction where he co-founded a retirement group and served many years as its Treasurer. He was a longtime member and Trustee of Quinsigamond United Methodist Church and its Mr. & Mrs. Club. Bob was instrumental in the preservation and relocation of the former Quinsigamond Baptist Church which is currently the Belfry Restauarant in Quinsigamond Village. He was a member of the Guiding Light Lodge A.F. & A.M., the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Lodge Council Chapter, Valley of Worcester; Conistory Valley of Boston and was awarded the M.S.A. He was also a member of the Aleppo Shriners in Wilmington. Bob was also a private pilot and was a member of the National Aeronautical Association and the Aircraft Owner and Pilot's Association.

A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, Sept. 6 at 10:00 AM at All Faiths Cemetery. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM at Quinsigamond United Methodist Church, 9 Stebbins St. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, The Justin Stockhaus Trust Fund, Attn: Yvette Rogala, c/o Webster Five Cents Savings Bank, 290 Main St., Webster 01570 or to Quinsigamond United Methodist Church, 9 Stebbins St., Worcester, MA 01607.
