RUTLAND-Robert Gary Thunberg, 79, of Rutland died Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at UMass Memorial Medical Center after an illness.
He was born in Worcester, son of Ralph H. and Emma C. (Clarke) Thunberg and graduated from South High School. Bob worked for New England Telephone Company for many years.
Bob loved to play golf and played in the Wednesday league at Quail Hollow, where he also worked part time. He was an avid fly fisherman. He was loved by all his family, friends, and co-workers throughout the years.
Bob is survived by two sons, Darren R. Thunberg of Rutland and Daniel C. Thunberg of Webster, a daughter, Patricia A. Carrier of Webster, four grandchildren, Robert Stubbert, IV, Corey Stubbert and Joseph Randall and Kelly Carrier. He also leaves his brother, Daryl Thunberg of Millbury, a sister, Judith St. Armand of Worcester and his two dear friends, Michael Peluso and Ted Purcell. He was predeceased by two sons, Richard and Charles Carrier, a brother Donald Thunberg and two granddaughters, Jeanette and Megan Carrier.
Funeral Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
