Worcester – Robert G. Valentine, Sr., 98, of Worcester died on Sunday, October 23, 2022. Bob’s loving and devoted wife, Stella (Zannotti), died in 2013.
Bob leaves his two loving children, his son, Robert G. Valentine, Jr. and his wife Caterina, and his daughter, Mary Needham. He also leaves 6 grandchildren whom he adored: Lia and Gina Valentine, Lauren Shepherd and her husband, Joel, Robert Valentine and his wife Anna, Carlo Valentine and his wife Maggie, and Jeffrey Needham. He also leaves his 2 great grandsons, Luca and Teo Valentine. He leaves his sister-in-law, Joanne Zannotti and many special nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Rose (Maile) Valentine, his 2 sisters, Florence Kowaleski and her husband William, Genevieve Graboski and her husband Victor, his brother, Henry Valentine and his wife Marianne, his sister-in-law, Gloria Poti and her husband Emilio, and his son-in-law, Gregg Needham.
Bob was born in Millbury and graduated from North High School. He worked at Morgan Construction Company for 43 years, retiring in 1986. He also worked part-time as a Supervisor in the Circulation Department at the Worcester Telegram & Gazette for 25 years.
Bob enjoyed fishing, playing cards, chess, checkers, and crossword puzzles. He was a loyal, life-long fan of the Boston Red Sox, rarely missing a game.
Bob had a quiet and calming manner and was the quintessential role model for his children and grandchildren who admired and loved him deeply. To know Bob was to love him.
A visitation period for Bob will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022 from 9:30 until 11:00AM at Fay Brothers Life Celebration Home, 1 West Boylston Street, West Boylston MA. A prayer service will begin at 11AM at the funeral home. A private burial, where he will be laid to rest with his wife and family at St. John’s Cemetery, will take place at a later time.
