Robert Austin Whitney, 71 formerly of Paxton and Auburn died peacefully on April 28, 2018.
Bobby was born in Worcester, a son of the late Austin W. and Emma E. (Conroy) Whitney. He graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Bio-Chemistry. He was a licensed real estate agent in Florida and Colorado. As a young man, Bobby enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served in Vietnam as a corpsman / medic attached to a Marine Corps company. While serving, Bobby used his wonderful gift of singing as a member of the Navy's Blue Jacket Choir.
Bobby will be lovingly remembered and missed by his two sisters, Ruth W. Duncan of Clearwater, FL and Barbara W. Simonelli and her husband, Joseph of Centerville, MA; his brother, Richard D. Whitney and his wife, Cheryl of Ashville, NC; his eight nieces and nephews, Rod, Lee and Keith Sroczenski, Elizabeth W. Frates and Thomas A. Duncan, Jr. and Cara Sneed, Conroy Whitney and Collen Kensey; as well as many cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Diane W. Raleigh in 2005.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bobby's Life Celebration memorial service on Friday, June 1st. at 11 a.m. at First Congregational Church of Paxton, 1 Church Street, Paxton. Burial will follow in the family lot at Mooreland Cemetery, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org) or Disabled American Veterans(www.dav.org).
