Roger W. Congdon, 84, of 17 Washington St.-21, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, in Worcester Medical Center.
He leaves his beloved wife of 42 years, Winifred D. (Clark) Congdon; three sisters, Bernice Dryden of Shrewsbury, Beverly Hovenac of New York City, NY, and Shirley Hall of Mystic, CT and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Helene Qualey of Colorado, predeceased him. He was born in Auburn, son of William E. and Maude M. (Fogwell) Congdon and attended Clark School for the Deaf.
Roger worked as an assembler for Incoterm-Honeywell Co. for many years, retiring in 1982, prior to that he was a weaver from 1948 to 1967 for several Worcester area Knitting Mills. He was a member of the New England Deaf Senior Citizens of Danvers, the Northeast Deaf Recreation Assoc. of Holyoke and the Worcester Deaf Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
A funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 12, at 11a.m. in FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 9 Hammond St., Worcester. Burial will be private in Hillside Cemetery. A calling period will be held Saturday, Feb. 12, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, the Central Mass Deaf Senior Citizens Inc. c/o St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 695 Southbridge St., Worcester, 01610.
