Ronald J. Taylor

Ronald J. Taylor left this world peacefully on Friday, June 29 holding the hand of his best friend and wife of 30 years, Nancy E. (Vickery) Taylor.
R.T. was a devoted brother and member of the Teamsters Local 170 who gave his heart and soul to his union since the age of 19. He sadly resigned on Monday, June 25 due to his illness. He served previously as Union Vice President and currently was head of maintenance and security. Ronnie worked for Abe Sack owner of Sack Storage and Son Trucking, where he served as a Union Steward and was a long time over the road trucker. He devoted countless hours to his brothers and sisters at the Union serving as Head of the Election Committee, Parade Committee, ran blood drives for the Red Cross and worked on the Scholarship Committee. Ronnie was proudly known as the Union Historian. He served as a Delegate to the Joint 10 Council in Boston, as a Sergeant of Arms for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and was active with the Saint Patrick's Day Parade Committee. He was also a member of The Strike Force and Education Committee. Ron also previously owned the Four Corners Restaurant in Rutland and the Harvester Deli in Westborough, where he worked alongside his son Lee Gary and wife, Nancy. His cooking was so amazing that he was contracted by the owner's of a New York restaurant to teach the chefs how to make some of his recipes.

Butch was the patriarch of his family and they were the center of his life. He would light up a room and was always there with a helping hand and some good advice. He is survived by four children, Denise Horn and her husband, Christopher of Saint Augustine, Florida, Gary Taylor of Charlton, John Taylor and his wife, Connie of Millbury and Ronald Taylor, Jr. of Comstock Park, Michigan; four grandchildren, Cody, Joshua, Amber and Kelly, many nieces and nephews who thought of him as a father figure. A son, Lee Gary Taylor; two brothers, Robert and John T. Taylor and two sisters, Mary Morse and Nettie Kimbar predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of John and Mabel (Allard) Taylor. Butch graduated from Quinsigamond College and was an Army Air Borne Ranger Veteran of the Vietnam War.

The family would like to thank Dr. Timothy Hopkins and his team, Doctor Howard Alfred, Ronnie's Angels, Pam, Nancy, Celeste and Andrea of the ACC Center all at UMASS, and JHC nurses for their loving care and compassion throughout Ronnie's illness.

On Friday, July 6 from 3 to 5 p.m., family and friends are invited to the Teamsters Local 170, 330 Southwest Cutoff for Ronnie's Last Meeting for a time of sharing, reflection and celebrating a life well lived.

On Saturday, July 7 at 10 am, a Memorial Service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Worcester, 1070 Pleasant Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Teamsters Local 170 Scholarship Fund or to the First Congregational Church.
