Rose T. (Torosian) Alexanian, 92, of Worcester died peacefully Saturday, March 6 at the Jewish Healthcare Center where she was cared for with great love, compassion and skill.
She leaves her husband of 75 years, Nicholas P. Alexanian; three children, Nubar Alexanian and his wife, Rebecca Koch of Gloucester, Nicholas Alexanian, Jr. of Boynton Beach, FL and special friend Melissa Warren of Sterling, and Nancy Alexanian of Worcester; two grandchildren, Abby Rose Alexanian and Jimmy Ahern and his wife, Jillian; three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Lily and James Ahern. A daughter, Christine Alexanian Ahern; a son-in-law, Fred Bauer; a sister, Alice Janian and a brother, Nubar Torosian predeceased her.
Rose was born in Worcester, daughter of Peter and Vartui (Serabian) Torosian. She attended Commerce High School where she met her husband, and later worked for many years as a loan officer for the former Worcester County National Bank. She and her husband, Nick, enjoyed an active social life in the Armenian community where they were often the life of the party.
More than anything she loved her home and family. The Alexanian household was always a place where the doors of welcome were wide open. Everyone who walked through the door were treated like family. She made friends everywhere she went, including the last months and days of her life when nurses walked into her room to check her vitals and left as friends. She loved family gatherings, the holidays, and any time to celebrate together. One of her treasured pastimes was collecting and organizing family pictures into photo albums. She was an avid reader and beach lover.
Rose was beloved by her family and all who knew her for her bright spirit, honesty, and good humor, and for how deeply she cared for those she loved. She will be deeply missed.
