Royal L. Shaw, 96, of West Boylston died Fri. Jan 2 in the Jewish Healthcare Center.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Helen M. (Wray) Shaw; three children, Bradford R. Shaw of West Boylston, Adrianne E. Moe of Castle Rock, CO and Duane K. Shaw of Worcester; two brothers, Paul F. Shaw of Barrington, RI and Donald G. Shaw of Harwich; a sister, Marion A. Borg of Ashaway, RI; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. His first wife, Ellen Y. (Carlson) Shaw and a brother, Harold F. Shaw, predeceased him. He was born in Belmont, son of Frank L. and Emily (Lawrence) Shaw and graduated from North High School and New England School of Accounting. He was an Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre.
Royal was the Assistant Auditor for the City of Worcester and also served as the Town Accountant and Assessor for West Boylston, before retiring. He was a member of Bethany Gospel Church in Worcester and enjoyed traveling throughout New England, the East Coast and to Canada in his motor home.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tues., Jan. 6, at 11 AM in Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 W. Boylston St. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visiting Hours are from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, Bethany Gospel Chapel-the Missionary Fund, 242 Clark St. ,Worcester, 01606.
