Ruben Diaz

Ruben Diaz, 74, of Providence Street died Tuesday, March 28 in UMass Memorial Hospital after an illness.

   He leaves his wife Carmen T. (Rosado) Diaz, seven sons; Ruben Diaz, Jr. of Worcester, Julio Diaz of Fitchburg, Raymond Diaz of Worcester, Kristian Rodriguez of West Brookfield, Gabriel Alvarez of Worcester Luis Verges of Worcester and Jimmy Miranda of Worcester, four daughters; Luisa Diaz of MA, Taina Diaz of Worcester, Denissa Diaz of Worcester and Lismarie of Worcester, a brother Nelson Rosa of Fitchburg, a sister Adelina Diaz of Ponce, Puerto Rico, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

   Ruben was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, son of Julio Laboy Diaz and Ana Alvarado.  He was a case manager at Community Healthlink Inc. for 21 years before retiring.  He was a very spiritual man and practiced his faith daily.  He enjoyed clipping recipes and cooking, watching the Price is Right and scratching his daily lottery tickets.  He loved sports and was an avid Boston Bruins fan and enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots.

  Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday, April 2 from 4:00-6:00 PM  at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, April 3 at 10:00 AM in St. Paul Cathedral, 15 Chatham Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
