Sally Patricia (Rudolf) Andreopoulos, 90

Worcester - Sally Patricia (Rudolf) Andreopoulos, 90, of Worcester, MA passed away on December 25, 2024.

She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Arthur Andreopoulos, in 2015.

Sally was born in Keene, New Hampshire in 1934. She grew up surrounded by extended family, making valued memories with her siblings and parents as well as many aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins that lived nearby. One of her earliest memories was watching her garage door fly off at the age of four in the Hurricane of 1938. She spent her childhood “climbing up trees to read” her beloved Nancy Drew mysteries and Bobbsey Twins books on her family’s farm on West Hill. At Keene High School, she was a progressive scholar athlete, graduating in 1952 as a three varsity-letter recipient and a member of the National Honor Society. Throughout her life, she would often fondly reminisce about her friends and school years in Keene. She moved to Boston soon after high school, where she enjoyed watching her beloved Red Sox play at Fenway Park from her apartment’s rooftop. She met her husband “Andy” (an air traffic operator) while working in reservations at Eastern Airlines; their first date was remembered as an evening with the Boston Pops. After marrying in 1959, they lived briefly in Winthrop and Peabody, Massachusetts before relocating to Smithtown, New York in 1963. She raised her five children there, relocating back to Massachusetts in 1990 to enjoy retirement. She enjoyed traveling in Europe, watching her Celtics and Red Sox, attending family (Carey) reunions, managing her successful crafting business, reading, and her grandchildren.

Sally will be remembered for her sweet, unwavering good nature, her steadfast resiliency, her creative resourcefulness, and her endless love and dedication to her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life came from the pride that she felt for her family. She was a true matriarch, known to never miss a school event, sew a costume, provide a comfort meal or bake from scratch whenever the need arose. She was always ready to enthusiastically lend a supportive ear, and she guided her family through decades of life with a humble, understated, and practical wisdom. She dedicated her later years to being the most loving, quintessential grandmother. She knitted beautiful sweaters, sewed gorgeous American Girl dolls’ clothes, and made delicious fudge for her grandchildren. She reveled in hearing about all of their adventures, achievements, and joys.

Sally will be greatly missed by her five children: Cynthia Franck and her husband Dan of Shoreham, NY; Nancy Fire and her husband Ted of Wrentham, MA; Stephanie Stark and her husband George of West Boylston, MA; William Andreopoulos and his wife Jennifer of Speonk, NY; and Elizabeth Umina and her husband John of East Moriches, NY. She will also be missed by her sisters Helen Reichart of Watertown, TN and Sandra Fleming of Keene, NH.

She was predeceased by her brother Thomas Rudolf of Marietta, GA, as well as her parents Thomas Henry and Edna Elizabeth of Vero Beach, FL.

She will be missed by her 12 grandchildren: Daniel Franck and his wife Ramsay, Alexandra Bowman and her husband Dan, Sarah Stern and her husband Dan, Amanda McCarthy, Andrew McCarthy, Thomas McCarthy and his fiance Caitlin O’Neill, Emily Stark-Griffin and her husband Peter, James Stark, William Andreopoulos, Lindsay Andreopoulos, Zackary Irish, and Jack Umina. She also leaves her beloved great-grandchildren Luca Jack and Eliza Marie.

Funeral services and burial were private. Her family wishes to thank the professional team at Christopher Heights Senior Living Community in Worcester for their dedication and exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to The Jimmy Fund to support cancer research and patient care at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
