Sharon A. Lundgren

July 25, 1945 — February 12, 2021

On February 12, 2021, Sharon Lundgren passed away peacefully at 75 after a brief illness. Sharon was the biological mother of one daughter, however many people considered Sharon their surrogate mom.

Sharon was an exceptional wife and mother and cared deeply for her family, friends and neighbors. She was always the first to lend an ear and embrace you in the warmest hug. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She was always the first to offer help, including volunteering at A Safe Place for abused women.

Sharon and her beloved husband enjoyed many years sailing the coast of Maine and rooting for Stephanie at her soccer and basketball games – never missing one. Her loving personality was contagious to everyone she met.

She was born July 25, 1945, daughter to the late William and Mildred (Staples) Murphy in Worcester, MA. After graduating from South High School, she attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois. Sharon spent many years working as a teller in the banking industry.

Sharon is survived by her beloved husband, Bruce K. Lundgren of Murfreesboro, TN; a loving daughter and son-in-law Stephanie (Lundgren) and Rick Taber of Peabody; her sisters Miriam Murphy of Worcester, MA, Carol D'Zio of Brick, NJ and Cape Coral. FL., Rosemary Baril of Shrewsbury, MA, her two brothers David Murphy of Wall, NJ and James Murphy of Mendon, MA. She was predeceased by her brother, Jonathan Murphy, of Leicester, MA. Sharon leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sharon's life on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 with visiting hours from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the Callahan, Fay and Caswell Life Celebration Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to Haven (formerly A Safe Place) in Sharon's name.
