Shirley L. Fitzgerald

WORCESTER-Shirley L. (Tubert) Fitzgerald, 80, former Boylston resident of 47 years, died Thursday, July 1 at Holy Trinity Nursing Center. Her husband of 53 years, Joseph U. Fitzgerald, Jr. predeceased her on October 8, 2006. She leaves a daughter, Susan Fitzgerald-McCann of Southborough; a brother Robert Tubert of Nashville, TN and several loving nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother Jack Tubert and two sisters, Doris R. Morin and Patricia E. Sharameta.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Henchy) Tubert and graduated from Commerce High School. Mrs. Fitzgerald worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Social Services for many years, retiring in 1988. Prior to that, she worked in the accounting departments at DiPierro Mfg, Co. in Shrewsbury and G.E. Supply, Co. in Worcester. She was an avid reader and loved the Red Sox. She also enjoyed socializing, especially going to lunch with her friends.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 6, from FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston with a Mass at 10 AM at St. Mary of the Hills Church, 630 Cross Street, Boylston. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston. Visiting hours are Monday, July 5 from 5-8 PM in the funeral home.
