WORCESTER- Shirley M. (Spencer) Mandella, 69, died Monday, August 23, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of Robert O. and Marguerite (Mullaney) Spencer and graduated from South High School. Shirley was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of the Angels Church where she was also married to Thomas Mandella on October 27, 1973.
Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and her family was most important to her. She always made holidays special for everyone and enjoyed shopping, sewing, music, movies and computer games. She also loved to travel with her family and go to the casino, where you could always find her playing the Penny Slots.
Besides her beloved husband of 47 years, Tom, Shirley is survived by three children, Todd R. Mandella and his partner Erica Rose, Thomas J. "T.J." Mandella and his wife Brenda, and Tracy Mandella-Mercadante and her husband Michael; seven beautiful grandchildren, Benjamin, Desiree, Samantha, Morgan, Krissy, Becky and Morgan and a great-granddaughter, Hannah. She is also survived by her brother, Kevin Spencer and his wife Jean, and many nephews and nieces. Shirley was predeceased by two sisters, Christine Laplume and Roberta Spencer.
Shirley's funeral will be held Friday, August 27th from Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street with a Mass at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours to celebrate Shirley's life will be held Thursday, August 26th from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
