WORCESTER-Shirley A. (Breen) Menard, 79, passed away Monday, June 1st. Shirley leaves her husband of 62 years, Thomas H. Menard; seven children, Thomas H. Menard, Jr. of Brownsville, NJ, Carol A. Esposito and her husband John of Millbury, Wayne M. Menard of Worcester, Kevin J. Menard and his wife Debra of Leicester, Diane M. Urban and her husband Jerry of Millbury, John D. Menard of Spencer and Paul F. Menard of North Brookfield; 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Cote and Florence LeBeau, one brother, William Breen and many nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Joseph, Robert, and Raymond her sister, Mary Ritacco predeceased her.
Shirley was born in Milford the daughter of Joseph and Mary (DiNardo) Breen. She spent most of her life in Worcester and graduated from David Hale Fanning Worcester Girl's Trade School. She was a member of Sacred Heart-St. Catherine of Sweden Church. Shirley loved hosting holidays and cooking for her family and friends. She enjoyed playing with and babysitting for her grandchildren in their younger years. In her earlier years, Shirley was a fan of the Bruins, and spent her Saturday afternoons watching Roller Derby and wrestling. She was a quiet woman, but could joke and tease with the best of us. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the Millbury Healthcare Center for the kind and compassionate care given to Shirley during her stay there.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 5th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at CALLAHAN-FAY-CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. Her Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 6th at Sacred Heart-St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 600 Cambridge St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association.
