WORCESTER – Shirley (Dobson) Parsons, 86, died peacefully on Saturday, September 1, 2018. She was born and raised in Worcester, a daughter of the late Reuben and Mary (Currie) Dobson.
Shirley graduated from David Hale Fanning Girls Trade School in Worcester. She worked for several years before dedicating her life to raising her five children. When the children were all old enough to be in school, Shirley began working as produce department clerk at several of the Worcester area supermarkets, including the A & P and Goretti's Market. Shirley enjoyed bowling, participating in several leagues at the Auburn 10-pin alley. She always enjoyed the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.
She will be missed by her five children, Annemarie Parsons of Worcester, Thomas E. Parsons, Jr. and his wife, Arlene of Paxton, Robert J. Parsons and his wife, Andrea of Worcester, Karen M. Parsons of Worcester and Christine G. Hynes and her husband, Steven of Auburn; her nine grandchildren and her three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a twin daughter, Kathy; her five siblings, Robert and Everett Dobson, Louise Bell, Phyllis Collette and her twin, Grace Dobson.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of Christopher House of Worcester, especially Lynn, Grace, Sandra, Katie and Shirley for the care and compassion shown to Shirley and her family during her stay there.
Family and friends are invited to visit with Shirley's family on Thursday, September 6th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. Her funeral will follow with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart-St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 600 Cambridge St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.
