Shirley F. (Trow) Smiley

Shirley F. (Trow) Smiley, 91, of Worcester and West Boylston, MA passed away on May 31, 2021. Born September 29, 1929 to Mildred (Wilkins) Trow and Rudolf Trow, she is survived by her son Edwin David Smiley (Gail) and predeceased by her daughter Susan Lynn Smiley. She is also survived by her sister Jean I (Trow) Daly of West Boylston, MA and predeceased by her brother Donald W Trow, of Wellesley, MA. She leaves 2 grandchildren, Geoffrey W Smiley and Allison E (Smiley) Stather. She also leaves a niece, Barbara Jean (Daly) Arnold, and three nephews, Kenneth Trow, Peter Trow and Alan Trow.

Shirley was raised in Worcester, MA and graduated from Commerce High School in 1947, then took a job at State Mutual Life Insurance. She married and remained a stay-at-home mom for many years. Later, Shirley worked as the office manager for Colony Retirement Homes in Holden, MA and prior to that in office administration at the Worcester Country Club. She retired to the Briarwoods Community in Worcester where she spent many years enjoying the social activities, local trips and various art and craft classes. Shirley enjoyed nature walks, traveling, and family outings. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org. Arrangements are in the care of Fay Brothers Life Celebration Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston Street, West Boylston. All services are being held privately.
