Shirley Tuson, 88, of Worcester, passed away Sunday, August 17th one day shy of her 89th birthday in the comfort of her home surrounded by family. She really wasn’t happy about turning 89, so she decided to leave us at 88. We had her birthday party and she passed away two hours later. Shirley was the daughter of the late William and Irene (Laverty) DeLorge and graduated from St. Peter Marion High School in 1955.
Shirley was born and raised in Worcester in the Main South area . She had a group of friends called “The Club” since high school, they vacationed every year together, she was one of the last surviving members. “Meme” was happiest taking care of her grandchildren when they were young and spending time with family. In her last years you would always find her sitting outside at Coes Pond Village or out to lunch with her nieces Kathy Winslow and Lisa Cialone.
Her Husband Richard Tuson who loved her dearly pre-deceased her in 2021 after 63 years of marriage, and her Son Thomas Tuson predeceased in 2023. Also predeceased her was her brother Bill DeLorge and Claire Gleason. Her brother Robert DeLorge is the only surviving sibling.
She leaves her Daughter Sandra Sonier of Webster who had been her primary care giver along with her Grandson Ryan Tuson within her last few years. She also leaves her eldest Son Richard Tuson and wife Rose of Florida, Son David Tuson of Worcester and daughter Kristi McGrath of Auburn.
Shirley had many grandkids, Sarah Sullivan and her husband Patrick of Texas, Chelsey Tuson and fiancé Dylan Orszulak of Arizona, Kaitlyn Tuson of New Hampshire, Ryan Tuson of Worcester, Joshua Tuson of Worcester, Colin and wife Yuni Levicki, Chase Levicki of Auburn, Alexis Sonier of Webster and great grandchildren Greyson and Violette of Texas, Scarlette Tuson of Worcester and another grandson on the way, Michael.
Shirley worked in the Banking Industry after caring for her five children at home. She wanted to pass away at home, and that’s exactly what happened, peacefully of natural causes. In lieu of Flowers, please donate to T2T.org to help homeless Veterans.
