Sonja M. Gullbrand

Sonja M. Gullbrand was called to her heavenly home on April 28, 2018.
Born on May 12, 1931 and raised in Worcester on, Sonja graduated from the former Commerce High School in 1949, attended the former Providence Bible Institute and graduated from Worcester State College in 1966. She received her Master's Degree in Education from Worcester State in 1973. Sonja worked as an elementary educator in the Worcester Public Schools for 28 years, retiring in 1994.
She was an active member of the former Grace Baptist Church in Worcester where she sang in the church choir, taught Sunday school and served on the Deaconess and Mission Boards. In 2007 she joined the Belmont Street Baptist Church, The Journey Community Church.
A member of the Retired Educators Association of MA, Sonja enjoyed her time with the ladies from the Nereids Swim Club of the NWCA. She also had been a literary volunteer for the RSVP of Worcester.
Sonja enjoyed traveling and her trips included Sweden (the birthplace of her father), other European countries, Iceland and Israel. She spent all of her summers at her cottage at Ramshorn Pond in Sutton.
She leaves several cousins and many good friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to Sonja's Celebration of Life funeral services at the Lindquist-Lundin Funeral Home, 36 Butler Street, Worcester MA on Saturday, May 12th at 10:00AM. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be given to The Salvation Army, Worcester Citadel, 640 Main St., Worcester MA 01608-2021.
