WORCESTER: Sotiraq Millona, 88, of Salisbury Street passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at UMass Memorial Hospital after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 64 years, Eleni (Loucas) Millona, a son Arian Millona and his wife Alma of Paxton, a daughter Eva A. Millona and her husband Astrit Seiti of Worcester as well as two beloved granddaughters, Elena Seiti and Kristy Millona.
Sotiraq was born in Dardhe, Albania to U.S. citizen parents, Pandi and Evridhiqi (Ktona) Millona. He was raised and educated in Albania, where he attended the Harry T. Fultz Institute and served in the Air Force before becoming a talented civil engineer, holding executive positions for the Department of Education and serving as head of the Transportation Authority for over twenty years. He later founded the first private transportation company in Albania. He moved to the United States in 1998, where he was an active member of Saint Mary’s Albanian Orthodox Church. In retirement, he explored his creativity and became a prolific documentarian, producing several films celebrating the contributions of Albanian-American community members. Above all, he loved his family and spending as much time with them as possible.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 9:00-10:00 AM with a funeral service at 10:00 AM at Saint Mary’s Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester. The burial will follow at Hope Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Saint Mary’s Albanian Orthodox Memorial Fund, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609
