Susan B. (Flood) Coviello, 67, passed away on September 22, 2025, at Rose Monahan Hospice Home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Arlington, MA, the daughter of Janet (Hadden) and Charles A. Flood.
Susan grew up in Westborough, MA with her three siblings and always looked back on her childhood growing up on Robin Road fondly. The Flood children and neighborhood kids enjoyed many games together like four square, 1, 2, 3, red light, and playing school in the Beaudry’s basement. She would join her siblings for sleepovers outside in the summertime only to end up eaten alive by pesky mosquitos. The Flood front yard was always the place where everyone in the neighborhood came to hang out. Susan adored her parents and the love they had for each other, remembering many nights when they would dance together in the kitchen.
Susan was a graduate of Westborough High School Class of 1977 and was a member of the majorettes. She held so much pride in her Westborough roots and always made an effort to plan and attend class reunions.
Susan met her husband David soon after high school through mutual friends whom they still keep in touch with now. They married in 1984, enjoying their early years of marriage in Harvard, MA before moving to West Boylston, MA and starting their family.
Throughout her life, Susan poured her heart into helping others, serving as a personal care assistant where she provided comfort and support to those in need. But her favorite role she ever held was that of a mother to her three children. She was heavily involved in volunteer opportunities with the elementary and middle/high school her children attended, helping design yearbooks, serving on the PTA, assisting in the magazine drive, and many other events throughout the school year.
Her compassionate nature extended beyond her profession and work; she found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often appreciating long walks with close friends from West Boylston, enjoying a cold beer or glass of wine on the front steps or back deck at home with her husband and family, and looked forward to annual family trips to Wells and Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
A member of the First Congregational Church in West Boylston, Susan had a deep appreciation for music and found a special connection to her faith community. She assisted with coffee hours, served as a morning greeter, and encouraged her children to be involved with the church through each of their confirmations and onward.
Her enthusiasm for decorating during the holidays showcased her creativity, bringing warmth and spirit to the gatherings she shared with family and friends. She was incredibly crafty, creating many a memorable scrapbook, birthday invitation, even clothing for her three beloved children. Even as her fight with Parkinson’s disease progressed, her family was always impressed by her creative abilities through drawing, painting, and other crafts.
Susan also possessed a remarkable ability to connect with others through her writing, taking pleasure in sending thoughtful notes and cards that celebrated life's moments. She meticulously journaled, particularly documenting the lives of her children, capturing precious memories and milestones that will be treasured by her family for years to come. In addition to her passion for journaling, Susan was an avid reader of fiction and was a regular at her local library, enjoying the many great events held there. She enjoyed many trips with her father and daughter to Pennsylvania Dutch Country, taking a keen interest in the lifestyle and culture of Amish people. She loved to shop, especially for new clothes and new décor items that made the Coviello house feel even more like home.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, David Coviello and her beloved children, Nicholas, Benjamin, and Jenna who currently reside in Boylston and West Boylston, MA. She is survived by her younger brother Jonathan Flood of North Grafton, MA, his partner Marty, and Jonathan’s four children Heidi, Dan, Lindsay, and Stephanie. She is survived by her younger sister Robin (Flood) Tougas and her husband James Tougas of Framingham, MA and their two sons Colin and Andrew. She is also survived by her niece, Sarah (Chysna) Flood and nephew, Bowen Flood as well as her sister-in-law Carolyn Coviello of Westborough, MA.
She was predeceased by her mother, Janet Hadden Flood and father, Charles Flood, her old brother Charles “Chip” Flood, her sister-in-law Anne-Marie (Van Dam) Flood, and her beloved Auntie Gail and Uncle Bob.
