Susan M. McGrath

d. March 29, 2009

WORCESTER-Susan M. "Grammy" (Rathbun) McGrath, 60, left us to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 29th surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her loving husband and best friend of 28 years, Jack Miskinis and their children; Kevin J. McGrath, Patrick M. McGrath and his wife Veronica, Colleen M. McGrath and her husband Michael Shanley, Kerry A. Brunelle and Kelly McGrath, all of Worcester. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Marisa, Matthew, Brendan, Ryan, Riley, Reaghan and Jack; a brother, Thomas Peltier of Medford and Margaret Foley of Worcester; several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by three brothers, Dickie, Donald and John Peltier.
Sue was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of Percy and Alice (Hartley) Rathbun and graduated from Commerce High School. She devoted her entire life to raising her children and grandchildren. As her grandchildren began arriving Sue became known as "Grammy" to all of us. Grammy loved spending time with her family, especially at Hampton Beach. She was an avid sports fan, who much to the chagrin of her family was fanatical in the love of the New York Yankees. When she wasn't with her family she liked playing cribbage, bowling and tending to her beloved flowers.
She touched the hearts all that knew her and will be deeply missed by us all, including Sam, the family dog. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses at the UMASS Hospice Program, especially to Donna who was there for us and made such a big difference when we needed her most.
The funeral will be held on Thurs., April 2nd from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wed., April 1 from 4-7 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UMASS Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln St, Worcester, MA 01605.
