Sven Carlson

SHREWSBURY

Sven Carlson, 93, of 311 Main St., formerly of Millbury died Sunday, February 1st at home.

He leaves his wife of 61 years, Alice L. (Tiderman) Carlson; 4 cousins, Elsie Anderson of San Jose, CA, Lois Reynolds of Palmer, David C. Reynolds of Louisville, CO and Paul R. Reynolds of Mars, PA

He was born in Vastmanland, Sweden and immigrated to the United States in 1929, settling in Palmer, MA. He lived in Worcester and then in Millbury for 50 years before moving to Shrewsbury in 2003.He was an Army veteran of WW II, serving with the Medical Corp.

Mr. Carlson worked as a pattern maker for T&T Mold and Pattern Company for many years and retired from Leland Gifford Company in 1961. He was an active member of the Vasa Order of America for over 70 years, most recently with Nordic Lodge No. 611 of Worcester, and traveled widely on Swedish-American affairs. He was also a member of the International Order of the Good Templars, a delegate of the Swedish National Federation, and an excellent cook.

The funeral will be Saturday, February 7th at 11:00 AM in LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler St., Worcester. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Swedish National Federation Scholarship Fund, c/o Greater Worcester Community Foundation, 370 Main St., Worcester, MA 01608.
