Theresa A. Mayer, 59, passed away on Monday, June 1st at Brigham & Women's Hospital surrounded by her family.
Theresa leaves her loving husband of 40 years, James A. Mayer; her two daughters, Julie M. Moore and Katherine E. Zona and her husband Michael Zona all of Worcester; her four beloved grandchildren, Dante, Jorja, Gavin and Lucas. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Edward and Steven Buniowski.
Theresa was born in Worcester the daughter of Edward and Marie (Corcoran) Buniowski. She graduated from St. Peter's High School. She received her LPN certification from David Hale Fanning Trade School and her RN certification from Mt. Wachusett Community College. Theresa has worked as a registered nurse in maternity at UMass Memorial Healthcare-Memorial Campus for over 40 years. She was an exceptional nurse who was skillfully devoted to each and every patient.
Theresa was truly one of a kind. She enjoyed camping, shopping, traveling, and special time with her grandchildren. Her loyalty extended not only to her family but to her many friends in different places. She made everyone comfortable and selflessly put others needs before her own. Theresa's strong faith gave her strength, and guided her to touch the lives of others.
May she journey well to reunite with her family in the Kingdom of God.
Visiting hours for Theresa will be held on Thursday, June 4th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at CALLAHAN-FAY-CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 5th at 10:00 am at St. Peter's Church, 931 Main St. Burial will be private in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. The family asks that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 304, Chicago, IL 60611www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org.
