Thomas M. Phillips

Whitinsville- Thomas M. Phillips, 83, passed away Friday, September 16 in UMASS Medical Center.

He leaves his longtime companion, June Zackarewicz of Whitinsville; a sister, Geraldine Krupika of Sturbridge and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Five siblings predeceased him.  He was born in Worcester the youngest child of Matthew and Alice (Convery) Phillips.

Tom was a welcoming spirit who had a generous and sensitive soul. For many years, Tom courageously endured multiple health struggles with quiet strength, inspiring others through his sense of humor and positive attitude. The twinkle in his big blue eyes and his warm smile would light up the room, making others feel important and loved.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 23 at 10am in St. John’s Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 www.stjude.org
