Valmore A. Brodeur, 87, of 156 Maple St., West Boylston, died December 29, 2004. He was born in Worcester on December 28, 1917 the son of Joseph and Cora (Lavigne) Brodeur.

In 1947, he married Claire Blanche Giguere, who predeceased him in 1975. He leaves three children, Donald E. Brodeur of Fair Oaks, CA; Susan Brodeur Handy of Old Lyme, CT; and Paul H. Brodeur of Sammamish, WA; five beloved grandchildren, Cameron Brodeur, Justin Brodeur, Claire Brodeur Handy, Austin Brodeur, and Nicholas Brodeur. He will be greatly missed by his sister, Aurore Labbee and her husband Arthur of Worcester. His brother, Roland J. Brodeur predeceased him in 2000.

Mr. Brodeur attended the former Worcester Boys Trade School, spent time in the Civilian Conservation Corps, constructing roads in New Hampshire, and was a United States Navy Veteran, discharged in 1945 with the rank of Petty Officer. He was employed at Presmet Corporation in 1955, retiring in 1982 as Superintendent of Finishing Operations. He was a past member of the American Society of Tool and Manufacturing Engineers, the Knights of Columbus and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Val loved flying at the Sterling Airport, riding his motorcycle around town, and designing and crafting jewelry boxes, cribbage boards, and clocks in his basement workshop. He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather and friendly neighbor to all, including Shirley, Mr. Leo, Rachel, Al and Monica, Matthew and Betty and the Givens.

A Funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 31, from FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 West Boylston St. with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St. Burial will be in the spring in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Friday, Dec. 31, from 9:30 to 10:30a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions in Val's memory for the benefit of his grandson, Austin, may be made to, Life Enrichment Options (LEO), PO Box 117, Issaquah, WA 98027.
