West Harwich, Massachusetts – Vasiliki Betty (Saltis) Montouris, 97, of West Harwich, Massachusetts, formerly of Worcester, Massachusetts and Palm Beach, Florida, loving and beloved family matriarch, died peacefully on Sunday, July 29, 2018 surrounded by her family.
Betty was born on May 20, 1921 to The Very Reverend Philip T. Saltis and Presbytera Magdeline (Chaitis) Saltis in Sotira, Northern Epirus, Greece. She emigrated to the United States in 1936.
Betty was married for 67 years to her late husband, George Montouris, with whom she is now reunited. Surviving her are daughters Dr. Georgia D. Montouris, Attorney Dorothy S. Montouris and her husband Attorney Eric P. Hayes, Dr. Elaine A. Montouris and her husband Dr. Gary F. Ciambotti, and Attorney Joanne S. Nikitas, wife of the late Nicholas M. Nikitas, and her grandchildren Matthew Montouris Gore, Maximos N. Nikitas and Alexis D. Montouris Ciambotti.
Betty joins her Mother and Father, brothers George Saltis and Michael Saltis and sister Pandora Saltis Tsouros. She is survived by her brother Andrew Saltis.
Betty was a long time member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Worcester, during which time she served as President of the Ladies Philoptochos Society, a charitable Greek women's organization. She was also a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Centerville, Massachusetts and was a former member of St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Betty lived a full and complete life. She was a faithful resident of Cape Cod for the past forty years, enjoying its natural beauty and charm and pursuing her personal interests of gardening, reading and current events. She was most happy at the Cape spending time with her adoring family for whom she was a great inspiration.
Private funeral services were held on August 2, 2018.
