C. Vincent Shea, 85, of 123 Granite St., died Sunday, May 12,in his home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, M. Ruth (Carney) Shea; three sons Dennis Shea of Worcester, Michael V.Shea of Marlborough and Kevin Shea of Georgetown; six daughters, Maureen Des Rosiers, Justin Shea, Geraldine Shine, Aileen Zelesky and Christine Kachadorian of Worcester and Colleen Gingris of Spencer; a Brother Everett "Fat" Shea of Shrewsbury, 28 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces and a nephew. He was born in Worcester, son of Michael C. and Margaret T. (Ring) Shea . Mr. Shea was a Massachusetts State Representative in the Worcester 25th district from 1965 to 1978, he was a member of the House Government Regulations Committee, Chairman of Bills in the 3rd Reading and Assistant Majority Leader. Previously He and his brother Everett owner and operated Shea's Tavern in Kelly Square. In 1982 he was appointed Administrator of Worcester County Hospital having served previously as Executive Assistant and Personnel Director at the hospital, retiring in 1988. He was a communicant at the Church of the Ascension, he served on the Board of Directors at the Blair House and St. Ann's Orphanage. He was a member of the Vernon Hill American Legion Post, the Alhambra Council Knights of Columbus # 88, and the Knights of Columbus Bishop O'Reilly Assembly, the Holy Name Society, the Worcester Lodge of Elks, the YMCA, the Emerald Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Italo-American Professional Business Men's Club, the Polish Naturalization Independent Club, the Worcester Boys Club Alumni Association and the Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Association. He graduated from St. John's Preparatory School and the College of the Holy Cross. He was a Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater.
