WORCESTER-Violet J. Nalbandian, 96, of the Briarwood Community passed away Monday, April 6 at home.
She is survived by her nephew, Peter Wayne and his wife, Mary Ann Nalbandian of Worcester; grand- nephew, James Nalbandian of Ft. Collins, CO; two grand-nieces, Carolyn and Jessica Nalbandian both of Worcester; close and devoted cousin, Marion Yagoobian; relatives and dear friends. Her two brothers, Peter and Karnig; a sister, Irene Nalbandian; a niece, Carolyn Dinsmoor and a sister-in-law, Marion Nalbandian predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester daughter of Jacob and Mary (Berberian) Nalbandian and graduated from the High School of Commerce and Clark University, cum laude. Violet worked for 33 years for the United States Government in Washington DC, for the Department of the Navy and in Natick for U.S. Army Research and Development Command where she was a Program Analyst, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Our Savior and a former Sunday School teacher; Clark University Alumni; member of Daughters of Vartan where she had served as Matron of the local chapter and also as Grand Council Representative of the New England area; and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Violet will be remembered as a caring and loving relative and dear friend. She had a great love of music, especially classical piano and was an avid reader.
The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 9 at 11:00Am at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 89 Salisbury Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held Wednesday, April 8 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at CALLAHAN FAY CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street. A Dahngark Service will be held at 6:30 PM and the Daughters of Vartan Service will be held at 6:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Armenian Church of Our Savior, 89 Salisbury Street, Worcester, 01609.
