Virginia Fotos, of Bristol, CT, and formerly from Enfield, CT passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a short illness. Virginia was born in Worcester, MA, daughter of the late Nicolas and Anastasia (Commatas) Economou.
She graduated from North High School in Worcester, MA and had a career in banking.
Virginia was funny and feisty and loved her family as much as anyone could. She was a wonderful mom, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, aunt, and godmother. She loved to be surrounded by friends and family. Virginia was quick to make friends, and the neighborhood kids congregated in her yard playing wiffle ball, or in her home, making cakes and hanging out. She loved the activity! Virginia enjoyed ice skating, tennis, bowling, ceramics, and playing cards. She was a terrific bridge player and while at KindCare she dominated the Scrabble board and was a wiz at Jeopardy.
Virginia was an avid supporter of everything her children and grandchildren did and could be seen cheering in the stands during sporting events (and maybe giving the referees some tips), applauding their academic achievements, and listening to countless concerts. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her favorite people, and their calls, FaceTime, and visits were the highlight of her days.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, JoAnne Holland and her husband, Steve; her son, William Fotos and his wife, Lauren; and her brother, Solon and his partner, Kathy Beckman of West Dennis, MA. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Peter Holland and his wife, Emily, Conor Holland, Mackenzie Napolitano and her husband, Joseph, Nicholas Fotos and his wife, Julia, Patricia Fotos, Stephen Holland and his fiancé, Alison Schwartz, and James Fotos, and her great grandchildren, Madison and Joey Napolitano, Finn Holland, and Jack Fotos.
The family would like to thank the staff of KindCare of Bristol, especially Katie, Tricia, and Mary. Their care and support were invaluable to Virginia and her family.
Memorial contributions may be made in Virginia’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org/donate.
Family and friends are welcomed to a celebration of Virginia's life on January 7th, 2025 with visitation at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester, MA from 9:30am until 10:30am.
