WEST BOYLSTON-W. Denholm Smith, 81, passed away Wednesday, September 22 in the Rose Monahan Hospice House.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Aiko (Tobaru) Smith; a sister, M. Diane Hendricken of Worcester; a nephew, Yancy Garnett of Leicester and his children, Jada and Celia; and a niece, Kelley Hendricken of Worcester and her daughter, Jolie. Two brothers, Stephen K. Smith died in 1953 and Robert W. Smith died in 2009. He was born in Worcester, son of W. Dixon and Marion C. "Jackie" (Grant) Smith and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School. He then proudly served in the United States Air Force.
Denholm owned and operated W.D. Smith Company for many years before retiring. Denholm was a stock car enthusiast and an avid Nascar fan. Denholm also had a passion for motorcycles and owned many over the years but most recently purchased a custom bike three years ago. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed trips to Daytona and Hawaii.
At the request of Denholm the family is honoring his wishes to have no public services. A Private Graveside was held in Mount Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Michael's on the Heights Church, 340 Burncoat St., Worcester, 01606 or to VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, 01608.
