Worcester- Walter R. Covington, 64, passed away Friday, May 6,2022 after a long illness.
He was born July 24, 1957, son of Shirley A. (John) and Walter R. Covington in Worcester. After attending North High School, Walter proudly served three years in The United States Army. He spent most of his life working for himself as a talented carpenter.
"Wally" was known as a "fix it" man, there wasn't anything he couldn't repair. He loved spending his free time building model cars, hunting and fishing with his friends and watching television, especially the New England Patriots, with his mom.
Walter will be deeply missed by all who loved him including his mother, Shirley A. (John) Covington of Worcester; his brother, Paul, of Worcester; his sisters, Mary and her husband, Glen Adams, of Oxford, MA, Elizabeth and her husband, Richard Molinari, of Worcester, Shirley Covington/Banfill of Worcester; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, a great nieces and a great nephews all of whom he would love to hear about. Wally also leaves behind many good friends including, Tommy, Josh Murphy, Mike Fafard and "Jello" the family cat who kept him good company. He was predeceased by his father, Walter R. Covington, and a brother, David C. Covington.
The family would like to extend a caring thank you to Aunt Ellie for all her support and prayers she gave to their family. A heart felt thank you to the Grove Street Medical doctors and nurses of Auburn and the UMass Hospital doctors, nurses, palliative care team and staff for providing Walter with the best quality care during his stay there.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Walter's life with visiting hours on Friday, May 13th, from 10:00AM until 11:30AM, immediately followed by a service at 11:30AM at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Worcester, MA.
