Wayne W. Friberg, 81, a beloved husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather, passed away on February 15, 2025, at UMASS Memorial. He was born on October 24, 1943, in Gardner, Massachusetts. Wayne courageously battled multiple sclerosis throughout his life, facing each challenge with determination and strength.
For most of his professional career, Wayne was an esteemed electrical engineer at Sprague Electric, where he dedicated his skills and knowledge to his field. His commitment extended beyond engineering; he was a group leader for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, earning recognition for his many years of tireless dedication to those affected by the disease.
Wayne often found joy in the thrill of various hobbies. Before his illness, he relished skiing, sailing, and riding motorcycles. His enthusiasm for sports was immense; he was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and held a particular love for football, especially the New England Patriots. He enjoyed engaging conversations about sports and politics and was always ready for a good game of chess.
Family was at the heart of Wayne's life. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda H. (Narris) Friberg, his son Wayne Friberg and his wife Allie, and two cherished grandchildren who were the light of his life. Wayne also leaves behind his brother Richard Friberg of Gardner, his sister Joann Gibson of Shelby, North Carolina, and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evangeline and Viljo Friberg.
