Worcester – William S. "Bill" Allen, 75, of Worcester and formerly of Brimfield and Sterling, MA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at Blaire House of Worcester after an illness.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra C. (Jernstrom) Allen, his son Michael of Brooklyn, NY, his sister in law Sharon Cahill and her husband Francis Cahill of West Boylston, and a chocolate-point-lynx Siamese cat named Tobey.
Bill was born in Worcester on March 12, 1943 to the late William J. and Helen V. (Gauthier) Allen. He graduated from Commerce High School in 1961, and also received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Junior College. Bill joined the National Guard (Yankee Division) during the Vietnam War.
Employed for many years in the optical industry, Bill went on to get his real estate license. More recently he worked as a job recruiter, utilizing his expertise in both the optical and real estate fields.
He had a long-time love of water and watercraft and spent his free time restoring old boats– including an antique Chris-Craft, which Bill enjoyed using at his summer home on Lake Winnipesaukee, and a 42-foot wooden Grand Banks trawler named "Sandy Sea" that he moored for many years in Mystic, CT.
A die-hard fan of the Boston Red Sox, Bill also enjoyed watching the New England Patriots in the Tom Brady years.

Visiting Hours to celebrate Bill's life will be held Tuesday, September 4th from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston. Bill's Funeral Service will be Wednesday, September 5th at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Burial plans are private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bill's name to the American Heart Association at their website.
