William S. Ernst

WEST BOYLSTON
William S. Ernst, Sr., 83, of West Boylston passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 28 in the Beaumont Nursing Center, Northboro with his loving wife by his side.
He leaves his wife of 63 years, Christa (Herper) Ernst; four children, Ellenore B. Porter and her husband Edward of Grafton, William S. Ernst, Jr. and his wife, Katherine of Worcester, Linda Coelho of Newport, NH and Peter J. Ernst and his wife Darlene of West Boylston; four grandchildren, Amy, Michael, Joshua and Christa; four great-grandchildren, Liam, William, Andrew, and Riley and several nieces and nephews in Germany. A son-in-law, Claude Coelho predeceased him. He was born in Braintree and raised in Bolton, son of Ewald and Lina Lemke. He was a proud Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the 33rd Field Infantry in Germany, where he met his wife.
William was a hardworking machinist at Wyman Gordon Company for more than 30 years, before retiring.
He was an avid Red Sox and Tiger Woods fan and a personal friend of Michael Schumacher the Formula One Race Car Driver. His passions were collecting beanie babies, trips to Foxwoods Casino, playing at Palace Games in Naples, Florida, traveling with his beloved wife and spending the winter season in Marco Island, FL . He was a quiet unassuming kind soul and a wonderful family man. He was liked by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 2, at 10 AM in the First Congregational Church, 26 Church St. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Friday, Oct. 1, from 6 to 8 PM at FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 West Boylston St. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salmon Hospice Care, 42 Beaumont Dr., Northbridge, 01534 or to the Central Mass.
