William Joseph Riley

WORCESTER- William Joseph Riley, of 240 May Street, died Sunday, November 11 in UMASS Memorial Hospital. His wife, Martha E. (Creedon) Riley predeceased him in May, 1983. He leaves two daughters, Susan M. Riley-Dowd of Worcester and Ann E. Hester of Westborough; two sons, David J. Riley of Braintree and William J. Riley, Jr. of Auburn; a sister, Margaret O'Day of Norwood; nine grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

He was born in Worcester, son of Joseph E. and Margaret (Breen) Riley, graduated from St. John's High School and the University of Detroit. He was a Coast Guard Veteran of World War II and served on the DE USS Harveson. Mr. Riley retired from the Worcester County House of Correction in 1990. He was a long time member of St. Charles Borromeo Church and has served at the Bishops Dinner every year since it originated.
