West Boylston
Withold P. Pranckunas 81, of 46 Henry St. died Wednesday (Dec.25) at home after a brief struggle with cancer.
His wife of 35 years, Ann C. (Agnitti) Pranckunas died in 1986. He leaves four daughters, Valerie J. Pranckunas of Winslow, ME, Nadine C. Pranckunas of Portland, ME, Francine T. Pranckunas of West Boylston, with whom he lived, and Monica A. Gove of Rutland, three brothers, John Pranckunas of Oxford, Kayo Pranckunas and Peter Pranckunas both of Chalmette, LA, two grandchildren, several nephews and nieces. Two brothers Edward Pranckunas and Victor Pranckunas both of Worcester and two sisters, Genevieve Kittl of California and Philomena Grabowskas of Worcester, predeceased him. He was born in Fitchburg, son of Joseph and Philomina (Janusky) Pranckunas. He graduated from Boys Trade School.
He was a Army Veteran of WWII serving in the European Theatre and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He worked for State Mutual Life Assurance Company for several years, prior to that he worked at the Boston Herald and Worcester Telegram and Gazette.
He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and the Veterans of Foreign War Post %236907 West Boylston.
A Funeral will be held Saturday (Dec.28) from Fay Brothers Funeral Home 1 West Boylston St.(www.faybrothers.com) with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church 111 Worcester St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. Calling Hours are Friday (Dec.27) from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
