WORCESTER-Zareh "Mark" Markarian, 96, of Worcester passed away Wednesday, December 24 in Saint Vincent Hospital.

His wife, Marion (Adjeleian) Markarian died in 1990. He leaves his son, Mark and his wife, Linda Markarian and Emily Howard of Sterling; a daughter, Marilyn Markarian; a brother-in-law, Gerald Kheboian and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Adjeleian of Ottawa, Ontario and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Victoria Manoogian predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Markar and Herepcemy (Roopenian)Markarian. He was an Army Veteran of WWII.

Mark worked as a shipper at Vellumoid Gasket Company. He was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, served on the Parish Council and was active in the mens club. Mark was a member of the AVAKS, a past commander of the Armenian American Veterans and in the Worcester Boys Club. He loved woodworking, carpentry of all kinds, gardening,food shopping, Holy Cross basketball and football.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Elder Services of Worcester, especially, Jayson and Marcia and the Dodge Park Rest Home for all their loving care and support.

The Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 29 at 11am in the Armenian Church of Our Savior, 87 Salisbury St. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Sunday, December 28 from 2 to 4 PM in CALLAHAN~FAY AND CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Armenian Church of Our Savior, 87 Salisbury Street, Worcester, 01609.
